Pierre Lassonde

Pierre Lassonde is a renowned investor, entrepreneur and philanthropist with more than four decades of leadership in the global mining and resource industries. Mr. Lassonde co‑founded Franco‑Nevada in the early 1980s, pioneering the royalty and streaming model that transformed mining finance, and subsequently served as Chairman of Franco‑Nevada following its relaunch and public listing in 2007. After the original Franco‑Nevada merged with Newmont Mining Corporation in 2002, Mr. Lassonde served as President of Newmont until 2006, playing a central role in one of the industry’s most significant integrations. Beyond his executive roles, Mr. Lassonde chaired the World Gold Council and is a widely respected commentator and author on gold and resource investing. Mr. Lassonde holds an engineering degree from École Polytechnique de Montréal and an MBA from the University of Utah, and has been recognized with numerous honors for his business achievements and public service.
